INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW

As part of our goal to recruit and develop exceptional talent, we provide our interns with a rewarding experience and ensure them greater exposure from top-to-bottom across the agency. We continue to look for college students or recent graduates who are eager to learn, motivated to succeed, and are passionate about an opportunity that will put them on a successful career path.

Interns at Taylor receive hands-on experience and have the opportunity to be a member of designated account team or department as well as to work directly with senior members of the organization. We have a detailed curriculum for interns to learn and experience a variety of aspects of the public relations business gaining exposure to areas such as:

  • Conducting media outreach
  • Participating in creative brainstorm sessions
  • Assisting with event planning
  • Staffing and attending media events such as satellite      media tours, press conferences and in-studio client appearances
  • Researching and writing press releases

Each intern is also assigned a mentor to guide them throughout the program.

In addition, interns receive a welcome kit that consists of various resources to acclimate them to our industry.

  • Intern Project Overview
  • PR Glossary of terms

Responsibilities:

  • Play a utility/support role on assigned accounts by locating media placements, proactively pitching local media, and preparing clips for client distribution.
  • Increase awareness and interest in each client’s business to help meet their needs effectively.
  • Conduct research and analysis and create necessary reports for client distribution.
  • Respond to requests from clients, account staff and other agency employees in a professional and timely manner.
  • Coordinate production of projects involving word processing, proofreading, editing, and making arrangements with agency vendors for video/photo production and press materials.
  • Coordinate and distribute press materials, press kits and mailings for account teams.
  • Attend necessary account team meetings and participate in events as part of overall team.
  • Cultivate and exhibit strong organizational, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Prioritize multiple assignments and handle high volume detail work.
  • Strive for personal and professional growth enabling Taylor to maintain a competitive advantage by providing clients with exceptional value and service.
  • Exhibit a strong working knowledge of social media and digital platforms

Desired Skills & Experience

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English or a related field.
  • Above average usage of grammar, spelling, punctuation and mathematics.
  • Knowledge of contemporary business procedures, computer functions and phone etiquette.
  • One year of agency and/or corporate public relations experience, specifically working with consumer brands, is a plus.

The application deadline has been officially extended for The Marcus Graham Project summer boot camp program. The new deadline has been extended to Friday January 14, 2011. Please encourage those interested in advancing their careers in the advertising, marketing and media industries to apply IMMEDIATELY and use their holiday break wisely.
